I know the video uses shared memory. Is this more with the 32 core GPU than the 24 core GPU? Would it in this case be necessary to upgrade the RAM to 64 GB?

No. The GPU uses as much memory as is required regardless.
All the tests so far as seen on Youtube indicate zero issues with the 32GB Ram and state anymore may be over kill for the majority of users.

Thanks. I ordered the Mac Studio Max 32 core GPU with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. This machine should replace my aging Mac Pro 5,1 (with a lot of upgrades and SSDs) which was the best Mac I ever bought. However it doesn't run a MacOS that receives security updates anymore after twelve years. Open Core is too difficult for me.
Thanks, I thought that more GPU cores needed more memory, because the 48 core GPU Mac Studio comes with more RAM standard (64GB). Luckily it's not the case.
