Question about 'Prepare For New Ipad' backup feature.

Can I use 'Prepare For New iPad' (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad) to backup my iPad and use it on the same iPad? I would like to factory reset my iPad and use this backup to restore it; or is this feature for an entirely new iPad only? Checking before I potentially make a terrible mistake.

6th Gen iPad, iOS 15.4

Thanks!

iPad, iOS 9

See this procedure:

Create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
