iPhone 7 smart battery case

Let me be specific, I bought this Apple iPhone 7 smart battery case (yes an Apple product) that was listed on eBay as does not work with the hopes that it could be repaired either through Apple or someone else. Description says: “port does not work, will not charge” or something like that. My question is if it is a software problem can it be repaired?? I’m not looking to buy a new one or get anything for free I just wanna know if it is POSSIBLE the case can be fixed. Anybody with any answers I am greatly appreciative 👍
