What are iphoto events?
List of iphoto events in My Albums. What are they for? They are mixed with my Albums.

You must have transitioned an iPhoto Library to Photos. Since Photos does not use events, for convenience, Photos created albums for each event in iPhoto. If you don't want them, you can delete them.
Literally, events were a grouping of pictures by time so that "like" images would be together. In practice, it works quite well.
