I was wondering if I could put an sd card in my iPad to create more storage space on my ipad? I know that I have on in my phone which gives me plenty of storage space

No version of the iPad (or iPhone) has an SD card slot. Try consulting with the following page in the iPad User Guide for information on connecting external storage to your device.
