Hi,
After I updated my Mac to Monterey 12.3.1, the external monitor is not detected at all. I've tried restarting the device but no luck. This issue didn't exist before the update (in 12.3) though.
Can you please help me fix this issue?

What model and year of Mac do you use?
Without more information, I would still consider resetting both the NVRAM and even the SMC firmware, (If Intel in particular), for this issue, hope these steps fix it!
Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
If your Mac battery won’t charge - Apple Support
Hope one of those two steps help! Otherwise any other information will help, such as make and model of the monitor and Mac, if the same happens with other monitors/ports/chords/etc. Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. M1 Max running two LG 4k monitors. HDMI works fine, but over USB-C to USB-C doesn't register at all. Worked immediately before the upgrade and still works on a second Mac that hasn't been upgraded yet.
I don't want to take over the conversation from OP, but in my case I'm on MacBook Pro M1 Max 14". To my knowledge, the NVRAM and PRAM options don't exist on M1 Macs due to the deeper hardware integration.
It doesn’t, this is just for Intel Macs.
Did you try a different cable? I've had them go bad like that.
Also, if it's not the cable, maybe you can use a different connection method as most printers can connect via USB, HDMI, etc.
