Can I get a cellular Apple Watch series 7 paired with my wife’s iPhone family share plan?

I’m retiring from government service soon. Giving up my iPhone…..I have no personal cell number. Can I get a cellular Apple Watch series 7 parred with my wife’s iPhone family share plan? Will I have my own unique number to receive calls?

Apple Watch Cellular vs. GPS I am currently looking to purchase the series 7 apple watch. This is going to be my first ever apple watch. I am just stuck on which one to get, I want the GPS one as I don't have the money to pay extra monthly for cellular. BUT I was wondering.. I always have my phone with me so would I still be able to make calls or send messages through the watch when my phone is with me? Family setup no longer available in Australia - Truphone not taking more customers I bought my daughter an apple watch so we could contact her without needing to get her a phone. We specifically chose the apple watch so we could control contacts etc We bought one for our son about a year earlier and it works well. However, this is no longer an option as Truphone (the sole provider in AU) is no longer taking new customers. As a result family setup isnt working in AU. We returned the watch and apple gave us a refund. Apple have not updated their website and Ive tried emailing and calling no no avail. My question is this - Does anyone know if Apple is working on finding an alternative MVNO or carrier for this service? Im still keen to get one for my daughter, but if no fix is coming then I'll just move on. It would be good if Apple would change its website or at least acknowledge my complaint.. If anyone has any insight be great to hear. cheers

NOTE: an Apple Watch on the Family Plan is much more limited, since it does not have its own iPhone to share information with.

You are treated as a depended child, or an elderly parent, where the controlling iPhone sets restrictions, and such.

But you can always start with the Family Plan, and if that is too limiting, you can always get an iPhone at a later date.
