Apple Wallet permits only Arizona state ID?
All I see in my Apple Wallet when trying to add a Massachusetts drivers license is Arizona as an available choice.

As of now, Arizona is the only state which is providing integration of their "mobile" DL's into Apple Wallet.
MA and other states might have stated "intentions" to implement ... and these "stated intentions" often end up in media "announcements" ... but they are still "works in-progress."

yes, I found it frustrating and a waste of time to try to add my drivers license. It would have been helpful for Apple to put in a disclaimer regarding all other states, other than AZ, being unable, at this time, to use this service.
Good idea to tell Apple rather than the other users in this user-to-user forum→Product Feedback - Apple
Note, however, that it changes over time, and Apple doesn’t necessarily know when other states that have committed to support e-licenses are ready.
I don’t at all disagree in principle …
… but a disclaimer on what / where?
What made you think that it WAS available and caused you an understandably frustrating waste time trying to make it work?
I ask only because every release I’ve read from Apple includes the kind of disclaimers you are suggesting.

It has nothing to do with Apple, who offered this feature to state motor vehicle agencies. But the states must agree to it, and must update their systems to provide information electronically to Apple so Apple can verify that the license to be added is valid. So far only Arizona has agreed to provide that information. Not surprising considering that most MV agency computers were last updated 30 years ago.
Consider that 17 years ago the Real ID act was passed, that required states to issue drivers licenses that conform to a Federal standard for identification so they could be used to board airplanes. Today there are still states that have not complied.

And a few months from now - we’ll all AGAIN hear the cries of, “We’re not ready” for the oft-extended “deadline” (currently set at 5/3/2023)
A disclaimer should appear in the wallet app where you add a driver's license. There is no indication that *only* AZ is supported.
Also, support how-to articles state "choose your state" when there is no way to choose a state.
Apple could tighten up the Wallet app considerably in this regard.
A bunch of states said they would participate, but so far only Arizona has updated their system to authorize licenses to be saved to the Apple Wallet. When you add a legal document to the Wallet your device sends an authorization request to the issuer, who must respond with an approval. Knowing how efficient most state motor vehicle agencies are…
Of all the States...backwards AZ. Well done, Apple.
Same here in Washington state. Perhaps AZ is the only participant.
