my iphone is frozen and unresponsive It will not power off any suggestions

I am having the exact same issues. How did you get it resolved?

My phone is turned on, but frozen. I can't turn it off and no app will open. The technique suggested by Axel didn't work to resolve this problem. I have a XR

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

• Press and quickly release Volume UP button
• Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
• Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

I plugged my phone into my Macbook Pro. When connected to iTunes, I was able to turn my phone off, something I had not been able to do with the unconnected phone. Turning it off and on rebooted and its been fine since. Hope this helps.
