Hi spneuro,

If you'd like to update your payment information, these steps might help.

You mentioned checking your payment information, did you check that in the location as outlined here?:

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.

3. Tap Payment & Shipping. You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.

4. From here, you can do these things:

- Add a payment method — Tap Add Payment Method.

- Update a payment method — Tap the payment method, then edit your information. You might need to enter the security code that's printed on your credit or debit card. If you use the card with Apple Pay, go to the Wallet app to edit the card information.

- Remove a payment method — Tap Edit, tap the red Delete button, then tap Remove. If you have an unpaid balance, have subscriptions including an iCloud storage plan, or you use purchase sharing, you can't remove all payment methods. Learn how to remove all payment methods.

- Change the order of your payment methods — Tap Edit, then drag the move order icon.*

*Apple will attempt to charge payment methods in order from top to bottom. You can't change the order in which Apple ID balance is charged.

Do you see any messages in red text below any of your payment methods? If so, you'll want to follow the instruction in the prompt. Additionally, do you see an expired payment method at the top of the list of payments? If so, you'll want to remove that payment information because payments are charged from top to bottom. An older payment left in your payments list could be one possible reason for your issue.

This information above is from Change, add, or remove Apple ID payment methods. This link also has the steps for other devices, like a Mac, if you need them.

If you continue to experience issues after following the steps and suggestions above, please contact Apple Support for additional assistance.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!
