AppleCare remains with the product regardless of how many times the product's ownership is transferred.

Both the standard mfrs' warranty and Applecare can be transferred; however, an Applecare rep told me that it was best practice to have the seller call Apple and report the ownership change with the new owner's name, address, etc. It's not a requirement, but would definitely speed up any repair ticket/process. Applecare needs to be transferred by calling Apple and asking to be transferred to the Applecare division (which is a separate entity).
