How do I burn a playlist to CD in the same order as they are on the PC? I don't have shuffle enabled.

How do I burn a playlist to CD in the same order as they are on the PC? I don't have shuffle enabled, but every time I burn a playlist to CD, iTunes changes the order of the songs. This is not good since classical music needs to be in the correct order.

Windows, Windows 10

Try right-click > Burn Playlist to Disc from the playlist name in the sidebar over File > Burn Playlist to Disc. The file menu method seems to have been broken for some time. Might pay to test with some erasable discs first. Note you cannot burn content that is in the cloud or comes via an Apple Music subscription.

Hello again! Well, I have made a major discovery. Seems that this only happens when I am making an MP3 CD. I have playlists that are too long to fit on one CD so I converted all the tracks to MP3's so I could fit them all on one CD. When I burn the playlist as an MP3 CD, the order gets screwed up. But if I burn the same playlist as a regular Audio CD, the order is fine. Of course they won't all fit on one CD which is the point.

It has been some time since I burnt an MP3/data CD. If I recall I used to use some third party software to burn selected artist folders to disc, complete with nested artist and album folders, and the leading track numbers. This worked well with the portable CD player I used to have. Another approach is to include a .m3u playlist to control playback order, but it depends on the capabilities of the device you want to use for playback.

Your car may not support it. You would need to check exactly what it works with. You can use iTunes to export an m3u playlist, but that would refer to the tracks on the original paths on your computer. It would likely need editing to use relative paths that would work with the content on the CD, and iTunes doesn't have a way to add in extra content.

You might be able to use Windows itself to burn a data CD of the existing structure of the album in Windows Explorer, so that you benefit from leading track and disc numbers for example. If you look at the MP3 CD in Windows Explorer what details do you see? E.g. Is it song names without track numbers? A flat folder structure or something else? I'm not sure I've got any blank CDs for testing with here or I'd try some experiments.
