mac book air

I am supposed to back up all the data before I take my computer to genius bar at apple. I read in the information that was sent to me I should use Time Machine. I like to use an external drive to store/back up my data. I cannot find the Time Machine. is it something I am suppose dto have it in the mac air? if yes where is it?

How do you back up an external drive using time machine? I have a MacBook Air, and use a dongle with a few drives on it. I realized NOTHING on the external drives is being backed up, just the system disk on the MBA. There seems to be no apparent way to tell Time Machine what to back up, you can only exclude system files. This is insanity, this can't be right, please someone tell me what I need to do to back up ALL of my Mac's drives to a back up source.

time machine by a hard drive Hi, I want to backup my Macbook pro by Time Machine through an external hard drive. However, I already have some documents saved in the hard drive. Will the time machine delete all my old files when it backs up my Macbook? Thanks.

Time Machine is included with the operating system.
