I made a guide on Apple Maps with the intent to share with others, but when I send the link via text, the link doesn’t take you to my guide, it just opens Apple Maps. When my friend shares his guide with me in the same manner, his link works perfectly and takes me to his guide. I just updated my phone and I seem to have no storage or iCloud issues.

I had this problem too. When I added a pin for an intersection, I had used “&” to name the intersection (e.g. 5th & Broadway). When I changed it to “and” (i.e. 5th and Broadway) it fixed the issue. I would look for any unusual characters (apostrophes, plus signs, etc) and changing those to see if it works. Note: if it was an actual place on the map, e.g. Saint Mary’s College, there was no issue with the apostrophe.

Let's try a few things to help get the guide you created in Apple Maps shared. If you create a test guide, does the location open in Apple Maps? Here's how to create a new test location:
Create a guide
Scroll down in the search card, tap New Guide, enter a name, then tap Create.
Add a place to My Guides
1. Tap a place on a map or a search result in Maps.
2. Tap(to the right of the directions button on the place card).
3. Tap Guides, then choose one of your guides.
