I trying to upgrade from 2 x 2GB atual memory stick config to the new 2 x Kingston 4GB PC3-10600 CL9, but my iMac is playing the 3 beeps sound.

iMac (20-inch, Mid 2009) 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo & High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042)

"Kingston 4GB PC3-10600 CL9 is not compatible with iMacs mid 2009?"

That model needs:

Memory Slots 2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

Kingston RAM should not be used. Please return it and buy either Crucial.com or Macsales.com RAM, why because:

a) Either will work.

b) They are both very competitive on pricing.

c) Have a lifetime warranty.

d) Offer great service.

It does not matter which vendor you use, both are great.
