I have a blank screen as the first screen/page of my iPhone. How do I get rid of that?

I deleted all the widgets that were on the first "page". Now it's grey with a "Search" box and an "Edit" button. How do I get rid of these? I thought they would disappear when I took everything off the page.

You're welcome.

If isn't the first home page, it is the widget page which you will only see if you swipe it.

But if you want to be able to turn off the widget page put in a feature request here
