Could a usb-c hub be causing a Windowserver Kernel panic?

Hiya!

Recently I got my hands on a monitor which I plugged into my iMac2020 via a Sandstrom Usb-C hub. Usb-C to mac -> HDMI out to monitor.

I've begun experiencing frequent Kernel Panics and they all have to do with Windowserver stopped responding for 120 sec - I only begun experiencing this after adding second monitor.

I've gone through all the troubleshooting I can think of, isolating all plugged in devices and it seems to happen reliably when:

External monitor is plugged in + Lightroom running.

And occasionally without Lightroom running.

Is anyone familiar with this combination - do you believe buying a true Thunderbolt dock will fix this?

Cheers y'all

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: looking at the console now, and I see Vncagent causing crashes as well. Discontinued runnning that in hopes I'll mitigate the issue.
