Microsoft Word keeps freezing

Good day

I have a 2016 Macbook pro. Suddenly 2 days ago Microsoft Word stopped responding and I had to quit it. I have since done all the recommended things found to solve this on Google. I have reinstalled Microsoft. I have removed the Word preferences folder. I have done a back up and taken things off to make sure there is enough space. I have updated everything.

I then left it for a day and it worked for about 30 minutes before stopping again.

I see my battery needs a service. Is that the cause? I can't seem to think that a battery would cause Word to stop working?

Any assistance would be highly recommended.
