Ok, I went back to my purchase page and clicked on the FCP icon. They said the current version available cannot be used on my computer but an older version is available. So I clicked on this and it is now downloading. I will report back on what happens after the download completes. I appreciate everyone's help.

Luis, I went ahead and found FCP in Finder. I then dragged it to the trash. Success. I went back to the app store and now I saw the cloud download button. I clicked on it and got a pop-up that says, "Final Cut Pro can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" because macOS version of 11.5.1 or later is required." So, I'm back to square one because I cannot locate version 11.5.1. But then you wrote this: "“In addition: according to Mactracker, your 2012 mac cannot run Big Sur, so Catalina 10.15.7 is the last OS that supports it.” So it appears my old Mac is preventing me from now using FCP? What do you suggest? Is there a workaround here I can use to get an older version of FCP back installed on this Mac so I can use FCP again?

Victory! I successfully downloaded FCP and am now back in business! Thank you, Tom and Luis, for your help, advice and guidance. I so appreciate your help and time.

I have done this several times: I find my purchase as you described, clicked on the FCPX icon, then click on the "Open" tab, and a pop-up comes up saying, "MacOS 11.5.1" The problem is, I cannot locate this particular update anywhere. Any suggestions?

Tom, I tried this, dragging my FCP icon to the trash. FCP was removed from the Dock, I went back to the app store, clicked "Open," and nothing happened.

I clicked on the upload button and nothing happened except that other window popped up. That's all I was able to do at this point...just seeing this other window pop up.
