does this apply to microsoft word?

If I need a new version of Microsoft Drive that is compatible with Monterey, does this apply to Microsoft Word? I don't use Microsoft Drive. If I do need a new one,

can I simply download it from Microsoft?

Welcome to Apple Support Community.

This document, About the OneDrive compatibility warning on Mac - Apple Support, is referring to a previous version of OneDrive that uses a legacy system extension. It has since been updated, and Word and all other Microsoft products will have no issues on Mac.

Here's a link to versions of Microsoft Office sold by Apple: Software - Mac Accessories - Apple.
