Apple Watch Series 6 battery drain after installing watchOS 8.5.1

Since I installed watchOS 8.5.1 my watch's battery is draining quite fast with no difference in the way I use it. I have to say that as soon as I installed the new OS, the watch was not able to charge at all. However after restarting it, it was able to charge. The problem is that the battery is draining quite fast. Any help will be appreciated!

Hey MG1201,

How long has it been since you updated your Apple Watch to watchOS 8.5.1?? We ask you this because after a software update, your device battery may be consumed faster than it normally would. After a software update, your device will continue to reindex all your apps silently from the background.

The steps on how to maximize your battery life can be found here: Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan

We hope this information helps.

Take care!

MG1201,

Understood. If this continues after it has been over three days since updating and after implementing the battery maximization tips in the 'Tips for Apple Watch' section of the second link we sent over, then the next thing we would recommend is to check the battery health of your Apple Watch under Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

Also, restart both the Apple Watch and the iPhone it is paired with to see if it helps with what's happening. These show how to do this:

Restart your Apple Watch

Restart your iPhone

Best regards.

Thanks BrianK90!

I don't remember the exact date, but surely this week. My bet will be that I did it at least three days ago. When I wrote my original question It was the second or third day I realized that the battery was draining much faster than usual. Right now it is around 7pm and the watch is already in 32% of battery, very unusual. I normally would be in 70% by now.
