I'd only advise that if it's obviously a gift (like a sealed box), you'll probably have a total duty free limit for everything you bring, and you'll be charged duties based on the assessed value (above the duty free limit) unless you bring your receipts. I don't think it's worth getting caught, as there are likely fines for trying to hide it.
But if you bring your own personal devices, you should be fine not having to declare them.
There isn't a specific duties schedule for Italy, as they're part of the European Union. Apparently the duty free limit outside of certain specific items (tobacco, alcohol) is 430 Euros entering anywhere in the EU.

You may carry other goods up to a value of EUR 300 per traveller or EUR 430 for travellers by air and sea. Some EU countries apply a lower limit of EUR 150 for travellers under 15.
