2011 MacBook pro has developed raised lines on the screen. I have tried to gently clean but no luck. I also have an older pro that has the same problem but worse. They have been in storage for a while and not used.
My guess is the pressure of the lid on the screen has scratched the surface. Does "in storage" mean objects were placed on top of the Macs? Ot were they stacked up? When MacBooks Airs or Pros arrive, they have a thin sheet of some sort of paper between screen and keyboard. Or at least all I've ever seen new out of the box did. I'd think that was a precaution to prevent just what you are experiencing. But, that is just a guess.
Looks like it may be the anti-reflective coating coming off which has been a problem with the 2013-2015 laptops. It also almost looks like there is an actual scratch as well.
