Can't launch Xcode

Xcode 13.3

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

Monterey 2.3.1 (21E258)


the next command:

xed -x

return the next error:     

2022-04-08 12:44:52.497 xed[711:7403] Error: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-1712 "errAETimeout: the AppleEvent timed out " UserInfo={ErrorNumber=-1712}


what i already tried to fix it:

  • re-install Xcode
  • xcode-select --reset  
  • defaults delete com.apple.dt.Xcode
  • defaults delete com.apple.Xcode


nothing helped.

I’ll assume the Mac is neither short on free storage nor low on physical memory, as Xcode tends to be resource-intensive


Is there an add-on VPN client app or add-on security app involved? if so, discontinue and remove all that per the vendors’ instructions, restart, and try again.


Does Xcode launch (albeit very slowly) if the Mac is booted into Safe Mode?


Does Xcode launch from a different, newly-created Mac login?


If React is involved, check with the team supporting that, too.
