unable to change my recovery key

I am trying to change my recovery key but there is no option under sysprefs/appleID/password&security. the menu shows only two-factor autorization [on], trusted phone numbers, and get verification code. System preferences/ Security Privacy/ File Vault shows a recovery key has been set. I signed in to manage my apple ID and under sign-in and security/recovery key it directs me back to system prefs.

What's the problem here?

Apple does not store your Recovery Key. This is something that you are responsible for after creating one. Once you did, you will no longer be able to use Apple's Account Recovery, and you will effectively be locked out of your Apple ID.

You can certainly try contacting Apple Support directly for assistance, but I believe your options will be very limited.
