Monterey 12.3 - overnight battery drain

Hello, dear Community!

Issue description: Since February 2022 after update to MacOS 12.2, I noticed an issue of overnight battery drain from 100% down to zero, while my laptop is in sleep mode with screen closed.

Hardware & Software: MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), currently installed MacOS Monterey 12.3.1

Additional info:

  • No new applications were installed
  • No MacOS settings were changed (Power Nap is turned off when on battery)
  • I have read about bluetooth issues occurred in MacOS 12.2, but switching bluetooth ON/OFF did not influence on battery drain during sleep mode for me; upgrade from 12.2 to 12.3 did not fix the problem either
  • Already tried rebooting, SMC & NVRAM reset
  • Activity Monitor toggling "View - Columns - Preventing sleep" shows many different processes which might cause the wake, for example: Calendar Agent, WindowServer, backupd, apsd, CalendarWidgetExtension, AddressBookSourceSync etc (see screenshot attached)
  • Terminal function "log show |grep -i "Wake reason"" result screenshot is attached.

Would anybody please help me? The issue is quite crucial and I give up hope to fix it myself.

You can try reset the power management from terminal, copy and paste:

sudo pmset restoredefaults

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for prompt attendance and direct advice! I followed your suggestion and during this week I've been closely monitoring the issue.

The situation got better - there are no full battery drain during the night. Yet, battery drain is still unpredictably high, and might go down from 100% to 70%. Exact figure varies from day to day. But in any case the overall issue still persists.

I have also noticed that sometimes I may pick my closed MBP laying on the table (which is supposed to be in sleep mode) and find out that it is warm. Which hints that some processes keep running and heating the machine even during sleep mode.

Looking forward assistance, please. The issue still persists.

It is a common case for me to grab sleeping MBP with monitor closed and find it warm/heating from the bottom. This is very likely related to the issue of loosing battery life overnight. As well as exhausting battery life due to nonstop operations...
