How do I stop Apple Watch from mirroring turn-by-turn directions from iPhone

Have you tried going to the Watch App, Maps, and turn off all of the Turn Alerts? I use it all the time when I'm driving and I've never experienced a problem with ti draining the battery of my Watch that much. I turned them off and put in a short trip, and the map did not appear on my Watch. The map icon is at the top of the screen if I wanted to tap on it, but otherwise, it does not automatically appear and provide directions.

Just to double-check what I told you, I disabled those settings I told you about, set my maps to my workplace since I had to go out there for something. I set it up on my iPhone, started the directions and I did not receive anything on my Watch and did not see the map there either. It would appear that something may have been set incorrectly. It also seems extremely strange that it caused battery issues for your Watch as well. How long of a journey is this or if multiple short journeys, how many? I've travelled from Chicago to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and not had a worry about my Watch battery while Maps running, and my regular Watch complications such as Weather, Mail, and Messages.
