Remote Desktop alternatives?

Back To My Mac was neat and cheap (free) solution, synced with your iCloud account.

As of July 2019 we only have a quite expensive alternative for $79.99 (How to transition from Back to My Mac - Apple Support) for which the latests reviews are not good. Plus the link "Learn how to use Remote Desktop" from above website is broken at least for a month (404 Page Not Found).


Does anybody know a trustworthy alternative that will work to reach your Mac behind NAT/firewall for macOS Monterey?

What is the goal you hope to achieve?


If it's just access to documents and data on the target machine, you may be able to get by with just using iCloud Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or a similar cloud storage solution that will allow you to synchronize your documents and data.
