How to delete several items from Safari history on Ipad without deleting the lot

I know that this question was asked some years ago but it never seemed to be answered as the thread drifted onto the subject of YouTube. And I am writing about Safari for IPad not a Mac or laptop.

I have very many items in my Safari history. I know how to delete the lot or to delete just one item.

what I want to do is to delete almost all the history but to leave a few.

If I want to delete multiple messages on WhatsApp, I can select them all but then tap on a few to save them.

is there a similar function on IPad please?
