Have you tried the "Play Sound" option in the Find My app or in iCloud? Obviously, it won't help if the phone and you are on different floors in this building.

Find My shows your iPhone's location on the map as a blue dot with its model icon above it. The dot would be in the center of a blue shaded area if the phone can be pinpointed; otherwise the shaded area would be larger and green. The shaded area radius would indicate the confidence of its location.

Locating Lost Devices at a Building:

Backtrack your Locations:

When it comes to finding a lost AirPod, you only option is to backtrack your locations. This is because AirPods are not assigned their own IP address. If seen in Find My, then the location provided is based on the last time they were synced to a device that is synced with the same Apple ID. So, if at a this building, then stop in, asking the front desk, if they have come across it, and placed it aside.
