What if my wallet is 5 miles away, will the AirTag locate it?

Your AirTag must be within Bluetooth range to use Precision Finding or play a sound using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If it's out of range, get directions to it first.

If your AirTag isn't within Bluetooth range, you can use the steps below to attempt to locate it:

1. Open the Find My app, then tap the Items tab.

2. Choose the AirTag you want directions to.

3. Tap Directions to see the route to your AirTag in Maps.

4. Tap Go to get directions from your current location to your AirTag.
