iCloud storage wrong

Hi, I have the iCloud+ with 50 GB storage, and according to my settings I have only used 7.7 GB of it. This seems reasonable as I don't have that many photos etc. However, when I go to my pictures on my Mac I can only find my old photos and I get the message "not enough iCloud storage". This is not the case as I actually have 42.2 GB storage left (according to my settings on both my phone and my mac). How do I fix this problem?

Hi Annif98,

Are these photos originating on your iPhone? If so, on your iPhone compare the following to your Mac.

iPhone:

  • Open Settings > [Your Name] > and view the Apple ID at the top.
  • Open Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud and you should see the amount of iCloud Storage you have.
  • Open Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos, and you should have iCloud Photos turned on.
  • Open the Photos app, go to the Library tab, and tap All Photos. Then scroll to the bottom of your screen. You should see if there is any activity for your iCloud Photos such as if it's uploading, downloading or paused. If you just see a number, there is no activity. This can help give a signal to what is going on.

Mac:

  • Ensure you are signed into the correct Apple ID in System Preferences > Apple ID. If you click on iCloud, you should see the correct amount of iCloud Storage at the bottom and Photos should be selected at the top.
  • In the Photos app, in the Menu, click on Preferences > iCloud and see if iCloud Photos is turned on.
  • In the Photos app, go to your Library on the left hand side of the app and All Photos at the top. Scroll down to the very last of your photos. Here you should see information about your iCloud Photo Library. If it is paused or try ing to upload.

Review Set up and use iCloud Photos for more information.

If it doesn't look right on your Mac, check if you have multiple Photo libraries. Completely close the Photos app and follow "Switch between photo libraries" in Create additional photo libraries in Photos on Mac

Hope this helps,

Have a good day.
