Is it possible to update to a new Visa card method of payment at all on an iPhone 12? I found it impossible. Only later using my desktop Mac at home was I successful. What's the deal?

Probably you have the wrong Country / Billing / Shipping Address in the Apple ID. This should be the same as the issuing Bank Country.
Log in to https://appleid.apple.com with your Apple ID credentials.
Scroll Down to the Payment and Shipping Section
Tap on Edit
You will be given both Billing and Shipping Addresses to edit.
Based on your country of residence and country you have selected under your Apple ID --> Payment methods that you can use with your Apple ID - Apple ...
Have you a Debit/Credit card that is issued to you that is valid internationally and is from the same Country / Region as your Apple ID.

How did you manage it on your Mac? I have a Mac and an iphone, struggling for the past 2-3 months and finally gave up. Planning to get a new phone and am hoping that it miraculously works on that.
On my iPhone 12, no option to enter another card worked. On my Mac at home, logging into my Apple acount let me enter the new card also delete the old card.
Has anyone else failed updating payment (new card) on iPhone 12?
