How do I use LG ultra slim portable DVD Writer with MacBook Pro

Which macOS version are you using with your MacBook Pro? The reason we ask is that it looks like the current version is only compatible with older versions of Mac OS X as shown here Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer with M-DISC™ Support

If you're using a newer version of macOS, you may need to check with LG and see if they have updated drivers available.
