Phone is dead but alarm still goes off every morning

My iPhone died on me a week ago, screen went completely black. After taking it in for repair and being told they couldn't find any charge, I bought a new phone. The alarm on my old phone continues to go off every morning, even though I have not charged the phone in over a week. I cannot turn the alarm off because the phone is dead. I'm just wondering how it's possible for the phone to not be completely dead after an entire week?

The screen may be off but the phone is on. If you are not using the phone the battery isn't getting used so it hasn't powered off. try manually powering off the phone. you can power it off following th ecoorect steps based on ur model Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks, a week still seems a really long time for the phone to still hold on to battery life. I can't manually power it off because I can't use the screen. I did take a hammer to it at one point and the screen did come to life then, but the screen itself is broken -- when I tried to turn it off, I could not swipe.

There are a lot of things that could be going on, but it sounds as if there's something inside that's working. Can't say why it still seems to be powered on after a week, but that's not impossible.
