Limit MagSafe Battery Charging to 90%

Why is my iPhone 12 Pro charging past 90% when being charged with the MagSafe battery under the following circumstances: (1) the "Charge past 90%" option is NOT checked, (2) my MagSafe battery is plugged in, and (3) my phone is being charged by being "attached" to the MagSafe battery? I would like to limit charging my iPhone to 90%.

As deggie says, there's no reason to limit your charge to 90%. Apple doesn't recommend that:

You can humbly disagree all you want but currently Lithium polymer batteries used in iPhones do not require limiting the charge to 90%. All that is necessary to take care of the iPhone battery is to turn on Optimized Charging and don't deplete the battery. Anything else and you are just making more work for yourself for something that is a consumable and will eventually have to be replaced if you keep the phone long enough. And yes, I have done basic research on all kinds of batteries.
