Delete items from iCloud and keep them on MacBook

What steps do I need to follow to delete items (photos, documents, messages, etc.) from my iCloud storage) while keeping those items on my MacBook. I am attempting to not increase my iCloud storage as I have plenty of storage space on my MacBook Pro.
