I'm running with macOS Mojave at the minute but want to update to latest OS but struggling as 121GB Flash Storage has 92.58 GB taken up by existing system. This does not leave enough storage to install new OS! Whats my options, advice please..

If that Air is crippled with only 4GB RAM, I would, in the strongest terms, not recommend upgrading to Big Sur, even if you found the additional storage to permit the installation.
The links provided will offer some relief but the issue will be, this tiny Internal SSD of 128 GB is the smallest internal drive offered by Apple.
It should never have been offered at time of purchase IMHO as it is basically unless for any meaningful usages.
If this computer has been upgraded over the years from several previous versions of macOS - this would be the accumulated effects of the space being used on the drive.
Thanks for your reply but what I'm getting at is that the current OS is taking up 92.5GB of my available 121GB!!
Surely this is wrong, how do I free up space??
