Alarm sound muted on snooze

Has anyone had this issue: alarm rings with full sound, you tap the snooze button, you wake up much later to see the alarm going off on the screen but no noise at all. The snooze interval is roughly 8 minutes but I’ve overslept an hour with the snooze going off with no sound. This happens once every couple of weeks so that I’ve started setting multiple alarms since the snooze function can’t be trusted. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out why it’s doing this? The workaround is setting multiple alarms, but wondering why it does this.
