Unable to export files (photos) from Photos on MacBook

I recently got a new MacBook and am now unable to export photos from my Photos library to a different folder on my device. The problem seems to be only with older images, not the newer ones. I had the same issue with my previous MacBook which was 5 years old when I got this new one.

The error I get is:

Export complete with errors.

0 (of 1) files have been exported

The export operation failed to compete a file for the photo identified below:

[image name] and Unknown error (50)

Can someone help with this? It's super irritating. I can access the photos on my phone, but not on my laptop, and when I try to airdrop them from my phone to my laptop they arrive as those annoying HEIC files.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)
