Magic Keyboard compatible with 2020 Intel-based Macbook Pro?

I just brought home a new Magic Keyboard but before I take it out of the box, is it compatible with my 2020 Intel-based Macbook Pro? And if not, why would Apple do this? On the fine print behind the box cover it states it is for use with an Apple silicon M1 machine.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.2

It is compatible — if it is not an M1 the TouchID will not work on an Intel external to the machine itself.

All other features work as expected.
