Xcode down load

When I try to down load Xcode from the Apple store it seems like it never begins. I am trying to download to my MacBook Pro Monterey 12.3.1. Please advise.

You can try installing XCode while booted into Safe Mode in case you have some third party software which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS. Usually anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, and third party security software will be responsible and should be uninstalled by following the developer's instructions as these types of apps are not needed on a Mac.
