Headphones not working on my new MacbookPro 14" with Monterey 12.2

The sound is still coming out from computer speakers , even if my headphones are plugged in, the correct output is selected in Sound, Preferences, and I have blown away any dust or else. It is the second time this computer reacts like this, first time it was ok with restarting the computer, this time to no avail.... Help/insights/solution will be appreciated.

The current stable release of Monterey is macOS 12.3.1 — I would start there and compare your results
