iPhone 5 not signing into iCloud

I recently factory reset my iPhone 5 (which I am using as a second phone with no sim) running iOS 10.3.4, and I managed to sign into my Apple ID via the App Store, but when I went into settings to log into my iCloud account, it lets me put in my password, then goes onto a loading screen, but then it shows two error messages: Verification Failed, there was an error connecting to iCloud, and Could Not Sign In, there was an error connecting to iCloud.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try first to optimize the range of the mobile network, see this Apple article:

If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad

If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Charge the battery > 70%.

I didn't manage to fix it. The thing is I had it set up with a different account and iCloud worked with it, then I factory reset it and then there were just errors. Apple must have changed the iCloud software requirements or something.

Thanks for the reply. I had the same issue - once I logged out of my iCloud account, I couldn’t log in with my daughter’s. The support team suggested trying with a SIM card inserted (we used one from another phone) but that didn’t help. I’ll call them again when I have the fortitude!
