Final cut 10.6.2 transitions not working

In 10.6.2 you can no longer drag and drop transitions from the Transitions browser to connected clips, nor to replace a transition in the primary storyline. To apply a transition select the clip or edit point you want to add the transition to, then double click the transition in the browser that you want to add to the project.

Tom, @WilfredoTimecode is correct. If you first make the connected clip into a storyline (command G), you can then drag transitions onto it.

MY GOD!!! So it was just Double click now instead of Drag & Drop. I nearly threw my Mac out the window... Previously we got the whole FCP slow loading fiasco on 10.6 (if not mistaken), then now Apple just decided to take away the Drag & Drop feature. Ughhh....

Yes I know that, but you don’t have to. Just make the transition with the double click and the storyline will be made for you. It’s great if you want to work in storylines, and I really do, but I think most people just using connected B-roll probably aren’t used to that.

Sorry Tom, I misunderstood and thought you didn't realize there was another way of working around the bug. I'm happy to select the connected clip and double-click but it sounds like many people are only aware of dragging and dropping transitions so this could be a way to help them continue working that way in the meantime. Seems like the core of the bug is the automatic creation of a secondary storyline when dragging a transition onto it is broken.

For anyone who hasn't sent feedback yet, the more people that do, the more likely it will get fixed.

Is look that we have to create a new story line in each video layer out of the primary leyer. That,s work for me fine.

right click over the video you want to at transition an select "Create Story Line"then at the transsitions

Until it's fixed, why not just map your most used transition to cmd+T. Since the default dissolve transition is the one I use 99.9% of the time, it hasn't affected me much because I never drag and drop a dissolve, I press cmd+T. That's still working just fine. It's only the random transition like I slide that I might drag and drop, so the little change to select and double click certainly hasn't made it much of a HUGE bug. A minor minor inconvenience, yes. Muscle memory is tough, but you can do it!

If I use the cmd+T tip from Bret I'm able to add a fade transition and the transition is visible:

For now - I'll shift my workflow... and use the double-click method. Thanks for the rapid responses guys!

You can right click on the 3rd party transition and make it the default transition so it will be cmd+T if you're using it a lot. As well, you can always select your clip and choose cmd+G to make it a secondary, and then drag and drop will work to the head or tail, but not to the clip (both head and tail).

Several threads about this. You need to select the clip or edit point first.

It isn't visible because it isn't there. You cannot drag and drop transitions to connected clips.

@Ocnorton, Send Apple feedback. The more people that do, the more likely it will get fixed.
