Garbled outgoing audio / video freezing with MacOS + external webcam

I have had persistent issues with my own outgoing audio becoming

unintelligible (described as "robot voice") when using an external

webcam (Logitech C615) with MacOs (12.3.1 at time of

writing).  This issue has persisted since my webcam was new and across

various updates to my Mac (since v10 I believe).

My video feed randomly freezes

    Have to turn camera off and back on in Google Meet to temporarily correct. Seems to only happen when using Google Meet

My outgoing audio becomes garbled after a (seemingly) random amount of time.

This occurs using Google Meet, and FB Messenger in the browser. Have tried different browsers. Also occurs using Telegram desktop application.

Some things I've tried:

Turned off hardware acceleration in FireFox

Have tried Chrome.

Tried plugging in webcam directly to mac's usb-c port

Tried using my headset for audio input / output (this seems to fix my audio, but is not a fix for using an external webcam)

These issues, in effect, render my external webcam nearly useless, but switching to the camera / mic is not an option. I attempted to troubleshoot with another dev at work and he had similar issues when ending audio through his Nexigo webcam's mic as well while on a Google Meet call.

I have zero issues using the when using the webcam with Pop!_OS, using the same software (meet, messenger, telegram, etc).  The issue is only consistent when using MacOS + external webcam. There are no drivers / software on Logitech's site for my current version of MacOS.
