I have always saved FCP files to my external hard drive, and opened files from that hard drive to import into FCP. When I logged in today, it's not letting me save anything to that hard drive or open anything from it (saying I don't have permission). I checked permissions, they're fully open as always. I can still access that hard drive in any other program, just not FCP. Are there permissions specific to FCP that I need to set?

Make sure FCP has Full Disk Access in Privacy System Preferences.

Below permissions there should be an option for apple to all content or something like that. It looks like the folder belongs to another user.
Please confirm that the application has Full Disk Access.
This is what Tom meant. If FCP is not there, you need to add, and make sure the box is checked.
