does the series 4 watch take a different charger than the 6?

It won’t even magnetize with the charger that’s used in my series 4. I have the aluminum and ceramic case 6

im hoping I didn’t grab a bogus fake watch, but maybe there’s just something I haven’t figured out yet

That watch doesn't look right to me so it may be a fake. Look in the link and you can see what the bottom of a Series 6 watch should look like:

Any Apple Watch can use any other Apple Watch's charger.
