The end of Optimized Battery Charging?

My MBP M1, OS 12.3.1 has  the feature of Optimized Battery Charging since I acquired it in Dec. 2020.

It worked very well charging the battery to max 80%, as required.

Since upgrading to OS 12.3.1 abt two weeks ago, it is charging the battery to full 100%, notwithstanding the fact that the relevant preference is ticked for Optimized Charging, as in attached pic.

Is there a cure for that, please?

Any single specific battery may last longer or shorter. But Apple has determined that this new pattern of partially charging when always plugged in, averaged over thousands of batteries, leads to, on average, the battery lasting longer.

Don't be alarmed if you see changes to the pattern. My laptops have been staying around 80% but if I reboot, apply an update, or use the laptop without the charger connected, that changes things, you may see it back at 100% for a while, or even lower than 80% for a while. Some of this is intentional, Apple wants to battery to be "exercised" from time to time and will do that if the user isn't.

After watching this intently for a while, I have stopped paying much attention to it and am focusing on other things ... you should probably do the same.
