Blinking charge icon after updating to iOS 15.4 with fast charge

Hello,

I’ve an iPhone 12 Pro and an iPad Mini 5 and until now I’ve always charged them with a certified third party 30W charger without any issue. After updating to iOS 15.4 both iPhone and iPad stopped to be charged and showed a blinking charge icon. Other devices that don’t support fast charge works well with the same charger/cable. “Slow” charge on my iPhone and iPad works well.

Does this mean that suddenly my charger isn’t supported anymore or is this a bug and I should wait a fix?

Thanks, best regards.

Hello Darsch,

Just to note, the latest version of iOS is currently iOS 15.4.1. If needed, you can find some help with updating here: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

There's also some details on Apple's page regarding fast charging here that may help: Fast charge your iPhone - Apple Support

For example, be sure to check if your third-party power adapter is a USB-C one that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD). If you aren't already, try using an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable as the page notes.

If possible, it can help to try using a different, compatible power adapter and cable, to help further isolate it down.

You may wish to try checking with the third-party manufacturer for any guidance as well.

Cheers.

Hello, thanks for your answer.

I have 4 identical third-party power adapter in my home and all 4 support Power Delivery. They always worked well (I bought them on October 2020) until I updated to iOS 15.4 (and now 15.4.1) my family’s Apple devices (iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone XR and iPad Mini 5).

I use third-party lightning cables, so I’ll try an Apple one and I hope it will work.

Anyway the fact that a cable (or a power adapter) becomes unusable after an update it’s a bit frustrating…

Regards.
